His Love Is So Great

His Love Is So Great

As today marks my youngest son's sixty first birthday, it makes me more aware of my own age, and God's blessings while here on His earth.  I think we often fail to appreciate all He gives us, and thank Him for those things.  Our family has grown, with His blessings, so much these last few years.  Although we don't see some of our great-grandchildren often, we share pictures and other communication with them.  We ought never forget where all our blessings come from, and give Him the thanks that are due.  To Him be the glory, now and forever.

The country we live in (these United States of America) has changed a great deal from the time I grew up. Most of you over the age of 70 or so, can relate, I am sure.  Not to seem too negative, but to see things as they really are, please think with me for a few moments about something.  I think you will agree with me it's not much like the U S at that time -- 1940's and 1950's.  It's true we have come a long way in our technical discoveries, and ease of living in many ways.  But have we really progressed in our family life and values, especially in the way we are teaching the younger folks?  Remember, our values become their values.

God teaches us in His Word how we ought to conduct ourselves and live as a people that would have His approval.  Do we not think he cares, and is aware of all we do and how we live?  Please consider a few Scriptures with me that may better explain my thoughts.  Thank you.

"And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do" (Hebrews 4:13)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             NASV

"The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men; From His dwelling place he looks out. ON all the inhabitants of the earth, He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works. " (Psalm 33:13-15)

"For He looks to the ends of the earth, And sees everything under the heavens." (Job 28:24)

"And to man He said, "Behold, the FEAR OF THE LORD, THAT IS WISDOM, AND TO DEPART FROM EVIL IS UNDERSTANDING." (Job 28:28)

"Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people." (Proverbs 14:34)

Sadly, we find many of the changes are not for a stronger, god-fearing people, but for the opposite.  If we are honest, we see a nation that has moved further from God in many ways -- in our culture, political, and our family life and teaching.  Many of His teachings in the New Testament reveal how we are to teach our children and grandchildren His ways if we are to be obedient to our Master Teacher, Jesus our Savior.

Peter put it this way. "For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. " (2 Peter 1:4).

If one considers the rest of the context Peter wrote in that reading (from verse 2 thru 9), the only conclusion is we must be following His teaching and example to be acceptable in His sight, and be ready when He comes again. (John 14:1-3)

Jesus sets the example and standard for us. No other way can we expect to have the Father's approval now, and look forward to a home with Him in heaven after leaving this earth.  He has done all He can to make that possible -- we have to do our part; obey Jesus and His Gospel, and live a life of faith taught therein.
Where are you in relationship to God and His plan of salvation?   His love is so great He has given every person the opportunity to be saved.
