LOVE IS FROM GOD

LOVE IS FROM GOD

We have just finished a concentrated study of the Apostle John's letter we know as First John.  Brother Jacob Dineen preached several really good lessons from this very special letter.  Be observing the inspired writings, several words or phrases really stand out.  Sometimes the Apostle John is referred to as the Apostle of Love, and it's easy to see why. Our relationship with the Father through all His Son has done for us leads us to understand much of why John wrote in such a way. Love always stands out as the key to all we do in that relationship.  Many Scriptures can be noted, but please let me quote just a few here.

"Beloved, let us LOVE ONE ANOTHER, for LOVE IS FROM GOD; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God."  (1 John 4:7)

"By this the LOVE OF GOD WAS MANIFESTED IN US, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him."  (1 John 4:9)

"And we have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God IS LOVE, and the one who abides IN LOVE ABIDES IN GOD, AND GOD ABIDES IN HIM." (1 John 4:16)

"Little children, let us not LOVE WITH WORD OR WITH TONGUE, BUT IN DEED AND TRUTH."  (1 John 3:18)  "The one who LOVES HIS BROTHER ABIDES IN THE LIGHT and there is no cause for stumbling in him." (1 John 2:10

Many others could be quoted, but it's easy to see how John's words carry such a strong and personal message of love....how important it is to have this type of character if we want to please God, and live more like His Son.  One can also find several other words the Apostle uses frequently that characterizes a Christain's attitude of life:  TRUTH, ABIDE, RIGHTEOUS, HEART, ETERNAL LIFE.   Notice now many times the word ABIDE is used; to live, A PLACE FOR US TO LIVE.

You may remember the words of Peter:  "...for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, THAT IS THROUGH THE LIVING AND ABIDING WORD OF GOD.  But the WORD OF THE LORD ABIDES FOREVER." (1 Peter 1:23,25)

Many special blessings can be found in any of God's inspired books, but one that always carries great importance, and should be read and put into our lives often, is that of the Apostle John.   Wishing you a pleasant and cool rest of your day.  Let us focus on spiritual things, and never let the world lead us away from what He desires for us.
