True Treasures of Life

  True Treasures of Life

As one looks at the book of Proverbs, it can be seen how many of life's situations are to be handled.  Many comparisons are given, both for our warning and for our good.  When looking at the very beginning of chapter one we find some things that need to be kept in the forefront of our minds:  WISDOM AND INSTRUCTION, RIGHTEOUSNESS, JUSTICE AND EQUITY.  I think we can see how important these things are for our good.  Notice verse seven of this chapter:

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction."

To FEAR GOD is to give Him honor, reverence, and respect. He always wants what's best for us, and in order to know that we look to His Word.  (1 Peter 1:25)

In the world around us, many place great value on material things -- houses, cars, trucks, high positions, popularity, etc. But let's look at the things God places the greater value on.

"My son, if you will receive my sayings, And TREASURE MY COMMANDMENTS within you, MAKE YOUR EAR ATTENTIVE TO WISDOM, INCLINE YOUR HEART TO UNDERSTANDING, For if you cry out for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding; If you seek her as silver, And search for her as FOR HIDDEN TREASURES, Then you will discern the FEAR OF THE LORD; And discover the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth COME KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity."  (Proverbs 2:1-6)

Notice in chapter 3:  "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes, FEAR THE LORD AND TURN AWAY FROM EVIL."

True treasures of life, as God defines, are those found in serving Him through His Word and teachings.  He has preserved that (His Bible) for us, so we can know His Will and conduct our lives accordingly.  The Proverbs are one of those special books containing His prescription to live righteously and follow His ways.  We also find many promises therein and we see some of those around us today, but many are yet to come.  Jesus confirms He will come again one day. John 14: 1-3) Jesus tells us we can have that "living hope" by obedience to His Will, the Gospel and Jesus His Son.  (Matthew 11:28=30)

We all need to conform to His "TREASURES", and not those of the world.  If we do, we can be ready when the day comes, the day when Jesus comes back to take His faithful home.   Are you ready?  Please think on these things....Thank you.
