Common Sense

Common Sense

Have you, especially of late, thought "where has common sense" gone?  The society we live in is now saturated with strange issues that just a few years ago were unheard of.  Many of these come from the social media as well as other sources such as Hollywood, political movements, etc.  Its become alarming to see how families are being pressured and harassed to consider changes even to children which have dangerous connotations as a result.  Things are being taught in schools today (starting at early ages) that should not be done.  Parents must become engaged and interested enough to be sure they protect their own from such.

God provides instructions for us to follow which will guarantee healthy and proper families whose  lives that will succeed in living life as He has prescribed.  He always desires the best for His, and by doing His Will, we will accomplish that.  Jesus, in the New Testament, gives us all we need to learn and follow to be His people while here and be ready when Jesus comes again. (2 Timothy 3:16,17(John 14:1-3) His way is actually the "common sense" we can learn to control our lives and the decisions we make.  Nothing men attempt to teach and force on our society can even come close to what the Lord wants us to be.  We need to always go to His Word for the answers for how to live, and how to bring up our families. Think on these things.

The 14th Psalm begins with this: "The fool has said in his heart, THERE IS NO GOD," By reading on we find this: "They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one. " (verse 3)

The very first Psalm contrasts the Righteous with the Wicked.  "How blesses is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers. But his delight is in the LAW OF THE LORD, AND IN HIS LAW HE MEDITATES DAY AND NIGHT. " (Psalm 1:1-2)

One of the greatest encouragements we have to help overcome things in the world, such as the false teachings for family values, is found in the 119th Psalm.  Notice with me some of the wonderful teachings of this important piece of the Psalms.

"How blessed are those whose way is blameless, Who WALK IN THE LAW OF THE LORD. How blessed are those who OBSERVE HIS TESTIMONIES, WHO SEEK HIM WITH ALL THEIR HEART." (Psalm 119:1-2)

"How can a young man keep his way pure? By KEEPING IT ACCORDING TO THY WORD. WITH ALL MY HEART I HAVE SOUGHT THEE; Do not let me wander from Thy commandments, THE WORD I HAVE TREASURED IN MY HEART, THAT I MAY NOT SIN AGAINST THEE."  (Psalm 119:9-11)

As Christians, we know the answer to life's difficult problems and decisions.  By learning His Word and the avenue of prayer each day we can make choices that will protect our families from the corrupt and sinful teachings of the worldly. (1 John 2:16,17) His Word teaches us we need to depend on Him and His teachings to make sure of being right and stay away from false teaching.  Dangers are at every turn, and we need to be ready.  Those who have young children, especially, need to take heed of these and do all they can to follow His ways to avoid the consequences. (Ecclesiastes 11:9-10, Ecclesiastes 12:1)

Please allow me to finish with a bit of the wonderful words of the book of Proverbs (sometime called TRAINING MANUAL FOR PARENTS):

Please read the first 6 verses of chapter one: notice words such as TO KNOW, TO DISCERN, TO RECEIVE, TO GIVE, AND A WISE MAN WILL HEAR AND INCREASE IN LEARNING.

"The FEAR OF THE LORD IS THE BEGINNING OF KNOWLEDGE; Fools despise wisdom and instruction" (verse 7)

The right source of our learning and living is always the Words of God, given to us in the New Testament.  Jesus is our perfect example and pattern.  Nothing man has to offer can ever take the place of His Words and teachings. So let us learn to grow in our knowledge and walk in His way, being careful not to give in to the false and corrupt values taught by those of the world.  Thanks for a bit of your time, enjoy the rest of this day He has made for us.
