Our Purpose In Life

Our Purpose In Life

WHERE DID WE COME FROM??  WHY ARE WE HERE??  WHERE ARE WE GOING??  These are questions asked many times by many people, I'm sure.

Some have different answers from what we as Christians would give, however by considering the evidence available I believe the answers should be evident.

So let's go to the best authority, God's Word and see what He tells us about this.

WHERE DID WE COME FROM ?   When God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1), on the sixth day He said this:

"Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. " (Genesis 1:26)

"And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; MALE AND FEMALE HE CREATED THEM." (Genesis 1:27)

Notice God did not create man without woman to be beside him, as his helpmate. (Genesis 2:18)  By reading the rest of chapter 2, we see how God designed the woman from the rib of man, and brought her to the man.  The man immediately understood  God's plan to make a helpmate (woman) for him, and the way God formed the first marriage;  MAN AND WOMAN.   When Jesus was tested by some of the Pharisees (Matthew 19:3), the answer He gave them was this:  "And He answered and said, "Have you not read, that he who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, and said "For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh? " (Matthew 19:4,5)

God has designed and instituted the marriage relationship for two people (man and woman) from the beginning of time.  His plan has never changed.

Although men have violated God's plan many times, His Word on that matter stands.  In the Divine Scriptures we find the plan God has given for family roles in addition to marriage  When we obey and live by His plan we will always reach the desired results in our lives.

WHY ARE WE HERE???.   Paul, speaking to the church at Colossae (Colossians 3:17), tells us this:

"And whatever you do IN WORD OR DEED, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.:" Since the Father gave all authority to His Son (Matthew 28:18), we are to do the Father's will by obeying  Jesus , His Son.  These instructions are clear for us in the New Testament . This was revealed by Jesus Himself in Matthew 28:20. when He said ".....teach them to observe all that I commanded you (the apostles), even to the end of the age."  This message was to go out to all in the world, and began by the teaching of the Apostles. (Acts 2)

Notice the words of the Apostle Peter:   "Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were, the utterances of God; whoever serves, let him do so as by the strength which God supplies; so that IN ALL THINGS GOD MAY BE GLORIFIED THROUGH JESUS CHIRST, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. " (1 Peter 4:11)

We must look to our Lord Jesus as He has authority in all things.  Only by obeying His teachings can we satisfy our Father in heaven, and be in proper relationship with Him.

WHERE ARE WE GOING??    The Hebrew writer tells us we have two important appointments each of us will make in this life:  " And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes the judgement". (Hebrews 9:27)

Every one who has ever lived on the earth will die at some time.  As the writer says "and after this comes the judgment".  Once our life is over here, our eternal destination is sealed -- either eternal  comfort or eternal punishment. (Matthew 25)

Jesus will come again (John 14:1-3), and then comes the resurrection of all men (John 5:28,,29), the end of time as we know it, and judgment by our Lord, (Acts 17:30.31)

God loves us so much He wants all to be saved (1 Timothy 2:3,4), however our part is obedience to His Will (OBEDIENCE TO HIS GOSPEL PLAN) to have hope of that eternal home with Him.

Each of us CHOOSES  to obey or reject His plan (Mark 16:16) as Jesus teaches.  The gospel is God's power to salvation (Romans 1:16), and since God has made a choice any choice we might make different from His will not save us.  What is your choice today?  We now live in the realm of TIME. but someday, after we die or when Jesus comes again, eternity will begin -- for every one of us! (Matthew 25:32)

Thank you for considering these with me  today.  Please give serious thought to your spiritual condition -- if God sends His Son tomorrow, WHERE WILL YOU GO?
